Ain't No Baby Ride

Big day with 46.75 miles and nearly 5,000 feet of climbing into Jacumba.  Not a "Baby ride" as we are fond of saying when we've had a stretch.  The skies and landscapes were ruggedly beautiful.  It was fun to watch the little 🦎 lizards scampering quickly away  - one of many things you wouldn't notice in a car.
The town of Jacumba used to be very united with the Mexican town of Jacuma  until 1996 when a big fence was built.   Interesting to talk to the locals about this .  You can read more here:

First sign of sand dunes to come.

Fence at the border 😞

Paul was right with his limerick " no sorrow " on the climbs
but lots of beauty.
